A DansBrabant dance act trilogy in Verkadefabriek,‘s-Hertogenbosch. Consisting of 3 installations by Inari Salmivaara, Katja Heitmann and Sabine Molenaar.
Sabine Molenaar – Let’s weave our findings together
With her company Sandman, Sabine Molenaar creates imaginative performances in which the associative logic of dreams rules. The world she creates is wonderfully unusual, but always recognizable. Sabine develops her performances from a specific state of mind. The body, in which she combines supreme mental, physical and emotional concentration, is her tool and gives her characters and associations profoundness and expressiveness.
Katja Heitmann – Pandora’s Dropbox
In Pandora’s DropBox Katja Heitmann presents the perfect human in a perfect world. A world in which all misery has been put back into Pandora’s box. Six performers are on a mission to maintain balance at all times. Every movement is made with tremendous care. Every conflict has to be avoided. Every action should maintain or even increase the harmony of the composition. Can a human being become a perfectly conditioned machine?
Inari Salmivaara – (SHIFT)
(SHIFT) is an audio-visual performance installation from choreographer and dancer Inari Salmivaara about the possible lightness of existence. In a meditative journey in which movement, imagery and music fuse, she invites us to empty the spirit of an excess of pictures and messages. Is it possible to escape the everyday worries for a moment?
Platform BARRY / Karel Tuytschaever – Stranger
From the male body, Karel Tuytschaever explores different ideas about the man in STRANGER, the different types of bodies that we have to shape from our one body. The performance STRANGER shows different perspectives on male physicality in dance and film and is located in the fluid state between which man you are and which man you want to be. STRANGER zooms in and out with our largest organ, the skin, as the only filter. The skin that breathes, makes contact and is the closest connection between yourself and the other.
Kristel van Issum & Martin Kers – The Soldier
There is a stereotype in each of us. In our search for 'authenticity' and 'truth' we can sometimes get lost. The Soldier is a film about those uncertainties, arising from the constant threat within our contemporary society, the world is not predictable. The short film guides us through the minefield of the protagonist, a damaged character who lives in "a God-forsaken world." The character "The Soldier" relives its past. A fictional anti-hero with a military past, psychologically traumatized. The Soldier is a visual and associative mini-melodrama in which the soldier tries to leave behind the stereotype and tries to regain his inner freedom.
