As part of Nonline Studios I got to design the user interface and trailer for a game called Fungi for Steam, web and mobile. Fungi / fungi.game is a strategic online multiplayer game in which you battle the rest of the world. Grow from a single cell into a multicellular fungus by leeching mass from other players. Move around by placing new links and transfer energy from cell to cell. Fend off attacks and try to conquer the map whilst keeping your network intact. There are multiple ways to defend, attack or avoid others and there are a couple of powerups to help out. With the right strategy even smaller fungi can be a threat, so watch out! Try to make it into the top 100 and immortalize your name in the hall of fame or challenge friends in a game of Fungi.
The visual goal is a clear and minimal design in line with the basic blobs. The gamedesign itself represents complex organic behaviour in its most primary form, making strategy the main focus. Because of plenty colourful elements in game, the interface and surroundings are a monotone greyscale. It's this back to basics approach that highlights the actions more than anything around it. The calm clean look makes it a relaxing game to play for users that like meditative mass mining, but also accompanies the usability when it comes to fast paced action.
